The first known count of Tours was the famous Hugh of the Etichonen family. After three generations, the county passed to the equally famous Robert the Strong, father of the Capetians. In 941, the county passed to the Counts of Blois and in 1044 to the Counts of Anjou, whence it follows their eventful history.
